A Note From The Event Organizer: Cynthia Rubino
Last year, I launched Shines Light with a powerful and successful Gala — a beautiful beginning to what I envisioned as a growing movement to uplift meaningful causes through awareness, education, and community support.
Shines Light was never meant to stay in one form. It was created to evolve — to shine light on a different charity each year, in ways that reflect the unique needs of the cause and the community.
Although the way we gather and give may look different each year, the heart and foundation behind Shines Light remain the same: educate, advocate, and support through celebration and connection.
ILLUMINATE
This year, we’re proud to support the Jean Tweed Centre.
I chose the Jean Tweed Centre because I believe that regardless of their story, every woman matters. Every woman deserves the choice to live a beautiful, empowered life — and to be seen not through the lens of her struggles, but as a pillar of strength and courage to herself, and for some, her children.
The Jean Tweed Centre embodies that belief. They meet women where they are, with compassion and dignity, and help them reclaim their lives. That’s the kind of light I want Shines Light to shine on.
EDUCATE
What is the Jean Tweed Centre?
An organization that provides compassionate care and vital services to women and their children impacted by violence, housing instability, substance use, mental health challenges, trauma and related challenges. The Jean Tweed Centre impacted over 15,000 lives in 2024.
Please take a moment to watch this short video and learn more about the incredible work they do — and how they continue to impact the lives of women and their children.
?? WATCH VIDEO
By educating yourself, you not only understand where your support is going — you may also be empowered to help another woman who is seeking help, or doesn’t yet know she needs it.

IMPACT
Thank you for joining me in supporting the Jean Tweed Centre.
Your donation helped amplify their mission and bring strength, light, and healing to the women — and their children — who walk through their doors.
Many of these women are on a journey to reclaim their power and rebuild a life that may have been stripped away by trauma, addiction, or hardship. They deserve to be seen, supported, and celebrated — not for what they’ve been through, but for the courage it takes to rise.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for believing in this mission-based initiative and in the life-changing work of the Jean Tweed Centre.
With gratitude,
Cynthia
