Palmerston House

Palmerston House is a unique transitional housing program where women and mothers with infants have the opportunity to work towards their substance use and related mental health goals. It is a safe, group environment for women between the ages of 18 and 50 years old where change and growth are supported. We support our residents in setting goals for their future and assist them in continuing to be productive and independent members of society.


The following supports are offered:

Substance Use Support:

  • Counseling and support
  • Structured Relapse Prevention
  • Information and referrals to outside support services (e.g. community supports, support groups, individual counseling)
  • Conflict resolution

Mom and Baby Program:

  • Pre and post natal support
  • Infant growth and development
  • Parenting skill development
  • Parenting capacity assessment
  • Access supervision for in house clients
  • Child Protection Services Liaison
  • Outreach program / mother and child visiting program
  • Anger Management
  • Structured Relapse Prevention

Mental Health:

  • Support and advocacy
  • Crisis intervention


  • Support in finding appropriate housing
  • Safe, supportive housing for duration of the program

Daily Living Skills Development:

  • Health and Safety
  • Health and Nutrition
  • Anger Management
  • Financial Literacy

Assisting residents to engage daily in meaningful activities through referral to appropriate existing community resources for:

  • Employment
  • Education
  • Therapy
  • Recreation
  • Medical support
